Music by Mood
Our moods can be impacted by many different things, but it's how we deal with them afterwards that matters.
Music can mean something different for every individual. For some, it can describe how they are feeling at a particular moment or day. For others, it can just be sound in the background to fill up the space of silence. For me, music is my therapy. Whether I'm happy, sad, angry, or just content, music will always give me something to relate to. If I didn't have music in my life, I think I'd go crazy. Also, I'm pretty sure Spotify is my most used app on my phone.
Now, we can't always have those happy-go-lucky days where we only listen to fun, cheerful music. We all have those days and moments in life where we are down on ourselves, unhappy for one reason or another. On those days, I tend to listen to more ballads. Artists such as Adele, Billie Eilish, and Sam Smith never fail to help me get those emotions out that have been building up. Music acts as a release for me. The days that I'm down on myself, or the days that I miss someone who is gone, or the days that I feel nothing in my life is going right, I can always turn to music as my savior. Listening and wailing the words to the songs is my way of letting out all of the emotions and sadness that is stuck inside me, getting me choked up with the heaviness of what I'm feeling.
As I stated before, music is my therapy. And sometimes, that therapy is very much needed when I get that fiery feeling of anger. We all need an outlet, and mine is music. Whether I am angry at someone or something, the urge to scream is very strong. And instead of directing that anger towards that specific someone, I roar out the words of songs that relate to what I'm feeling. That includes songs such as "abcdefu" by GAYLE, "Ring the Alarm" by Beyonce, and "Happier Than Ever" by Billie Eilish.

Hi Yarden! First of all I want to say that I love your blog page and I love your topic very much. I really enjoyed reading it. You made your blog sound so great and interesting that I wanted to read more and more.
ReplyDeleteMusic is amazing. I love listening to all kinds of music. However, the only artist’s music that I have saved on my Spotify is Juice World. I am not sure if you are familiar with him or not but he is such a great rapper, at least to myself. His music is my escape. You mentioned that you have your happy songs for your happy days and other songs for the days that you are feeling down. I don't know if it's weird but for me, no matter if I am happy, sad, angry etc, I just listen to Juice World’s music. His music brings so much peace to me that I want to cry. I have other ways of escaping from reality, however music always helps me very much. To be specific, music means euphoria and nostalgia to me.
Thank you very much for your great blog!
As a musician, music is everything to me. Without music, I don't know where I would be. I have been playing the piano for nearly 10 years now, and it is one of the most relaxing parts of my life. The ability to simply sit at my piano, and play whatever I like. But I also play the guitar, I have been for 5 years, and instead of being relaxing, the guitar it really what helps me let out of anger. If I am having a bad day, I can play heavier music, metal, punk rock, or something else. These chords are fundamentally the same as those on the piano, but the way they are played changed the mood in such a way that it lets me release my feelings. Or maybe I am in a happy mood and I wan to sing, so I put on some nice baritone singers like Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, or Jack Johnson and sing some nice songs.
ReplyDeleteMusic to me is a fundamental part of who I am, and it impacts me every single day of my life.
Hello Yarden,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your post and learning about what music means to you. I am glad that music helps you and acts as therapy for you . I also love listening to music. I mostly listen to music in Spanish, but I do listen to some English songs. I don't really listen to music based on what I am feeling, but I love listening to music that has great lyrics. I've never been a Taylor Swift fan, but over quarantine I started listening to some of her newer music and loved it. I feel like she's a great songwriter. I spend almost all day listening to music and even fall asleep with music. Music helps me relax and feel less anxious.
Hi Yarden!
ReplyDeleteI definitely see that music really impacts people's lives in so many ways, I personally have had previous experience with playing an instrument, and although I have recently stopped, I still remember the feeling of playing songs. It really did make me feel so happy and I was always so excited to get my hands on my violin and just play away. Although time has passed, I still think the same thing every time I pick it up to mess with again. Seeing how some people really work well with music consistently play amazes me, now I do love music a lot, sometimes I forget how much it helps people get through their days.
